Never before has an auction of Frisian foals been organized such as that of the Excel Friesian Auction. Today the organization is launching its first collection of top quality Friesian foals. The online auction will take place on Thursday September 1st.
“The Friesian horse has fans all over the world. That is also the main reason for organizing this auction online,” begins Annelou de Man, who is responsible for the organization together with Mirella van Leeuwen. “Extensive footage has been made of all foals. The walk, trot and canter are on video, but we’ve also included a 180 degree video and walk on a hard surface. In addition, we have written an extensive text about the pedigree and the achievements of both parents. Marc Peter Spahn, as a dressage specialist, has also given his view on the studbook paper for some foals. In this way we provide potential buyers with all the information needed. Of course it is also possible to view the foals in all peace and quietness at home with the breeders. To do so, potentional buyers are able to make an appointment to do this through the organization of Excel Friesian Auction”.
No fewer than sixteen foals from the collection have a full paper and seven foals have received a first premium on a breeding day or inspection day in recent weeks. Foals are offered from champion stallions such as Matthys 504 and Teun 505, combined with model-mares, first premium ster-mares and IBOP-toppers. Take for example Valentino van de Waelhoeve, whose father is the KFPS Stallion Selection 2020-champion Matthys 504 and the mother is a Uldrik 457 Ster Sport AA-mare who scored good points for her IBOP and has a successful harness career that earned her a sport-predicate, the Pavo Fryso Bokaal and the Women’s Championship South Netherlands in harness. For the connoisseurs there are foals from different proven dam-lines, such as the ‘Lutke Peinjum’-line and the ‘Fan it Hiem’-line and several foals with a preferentship in each generation. There are also several foals with interesting unrelated bloodlines, with which the collection also responds to the current needs within the KFPS studbook. There really is something for everyone!
Professionals on the road
The foals were selected in the preliminary phase by professionals Marc Peter Spahn, Susan Wind, Willem Houterman, Huibert Maurice, Erwin Spliethof and Denise Klap. They looked at foals throughout the Netherlands and eventually put together the collection. The foals have all been assessed by vet Marco de Bruijn of Veterinary Clinic Wolvega. Just before the actual auction, the foals are again assessed at home by a certified veterinarian.
The collection is available online now. Would you like to receive more information about one of the auction foals? Please contact the organization via email@example.com.
