Through the lens: winners and emotions at CPEDI3* De Peelbergen
Frank Hosmar, Tobias Thorning Jorgensen, Rihards Snikus, Heidemarie Dresing and Sanne Voets were celebrated as the winners this Sunday afternoon at CPEDI3* De Peelbergen in The Netherlands. We were present to photograph all the combinations at excitement and of course couldn’t leave Kronenberg without providing you with a little photographic recap!
The first competitors to start their Freestyle this morning were the Grade V-combinations. It was Frank Hosmar who grabbed first place with his Sandreo-gelding Alphaville N.O.P. The Dutchman scored an impressive 83,000% and was unanimously put into first place by judges Eva Andersson, Marco Orsini and Anne Prain. Second place went to the German combination Regine Mispelkamp and her chestnut Highlander Delight’s (v. Florencio II). They scored 78,575%. Britney de Jong and Caramba (v. Tuschinski) became third with 76,344%.
Tobias Thorning Jorgensen, whom we interviewed yesterday, won the Grade III Freestyle with his grey mare Jolene Hill (v. Blue Hors Schufro Hit): he scored 82,456%. Second and third place went to two Dutch combinations. Rixt van der Horst scored 79,312% with Findsley N.O.P. (v. Belissimo) and Maud de Reu and Sir Sinclair-gelding Webron N.O.P.’s Freestyle was rewarded with 76,33%.
The Grade I Freestyle was won by the ever enthusiastic Latvian rider Rihard Snikus and his incredibly lovely bay gelding King of the Dance. His Freestyle scored an impressive 83,344%. Norwegian rider Jens Lasse Dokkan and Aladdin ended in second place with 80,589%. The third place went towards Italian rider Sara Morganti and Mariebelle (v. Lissaro van de Helle): she scored 78,645%.
Watching the Freestyle you’re not only touched by the lovely composed music and tests, but it’s also brilliant to see what interesting innovations are used to help the Para-dressage riders perform at their very best. The deaf Singaporian rider Laurentia Tan used an innovative tactile audio system, named SubPac, to help her feel the rhythm of her music. Only just approved by the FEI, the audio system quietly and accurately transmits deep bass frequencies from a little transmission device that’s located in the judges tower to a lightweight backpack Tan’s wearing during her test. It helped Tan ride a lovely test with her Hannoverian-gelding Fuerst Sherlock (v. Fuerst Nymphenburg) which was rewarded with 69,934%.
The Grade II Freestyle was won by the German rider Heidemarie Dresing. She rode the eight year old chestnut mare La Boum 20, a Londontime out of a Crazy Classic-mare. Her Freestyle was judged to a percentage of 77,078. Danish rider Katrine Kristensen and Welldone Dallas (v. Weltmeyer) won second place with 75,645% and the third place went towards Dutch rider Nicole den Dulk and Wallace N.O.P. (v. Future). She scored 74,023%.
The final day of CPEDI3* De Peelbergen was completed with the Grade IV Freestyle. With four out of eight competitiors being Dutch, the class was won by Sanne Voets and her Demantur RS2 N.O.P. (v. Vivaldi). They scored an impressive 79,959%. Second place was for Demi Uijtewaal and Winando (v. Jetset-D) with 77,725%. The third place was for Belgian rider Manon Claeys and San Dior 2 (v. Stedinger): they scored 77,625%.
