Verden: Helgstrand’s Jovian is a class of his own
On the third day of the FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for young horses in Verden, it was time for the Qualifier of the seven-year-old horses. From the thirty-four combinations it was Jovian (v. Apache) who was the absolute winner. The stallion was able to score especially high with his trot (10.0) and canter (9.8), received a grade of 9.3 for rideability and again the highest grade of 10 for ‘perspective’ (general impression) and with that, came total of 87.145% with his rider Andreas Helgstrand.
Second place went to Andreas’ wife Marianne Yde Helgstrand with the stallion Elverhojs Raccolto (v. Sezuan). The judge appreciated the canter with a 9.8 and gave the combination a total score of 81.886%.
Third place went to Simone Pearce and the Hanoverian-stallion Quando Unico (v. Quantensprung 3): she rode a beautiful test with a 9.5 for the walk a 9.0 for the canter and ended with a total score of 81.709%.
Two more Helgstrand Dressage horses ended in place four and five. Andreas Helgstrand with Queenparks Wendy (v. Sezuan) rode to fourth and Anne-Mette Strandby Hansen complete a beautiful test with the gelding Eternity 75 (v. Escolar): the judge gave an impressive 10 points for the canter and a 9.5 for the trot and ‘perspective’.
The twelve best-placed combinations are directly qualified for the Final on Sunday in Verden (starting from 12:00 local time). On Saturday, three more combinations can make themselves eligible for the run for the medals through the Small Final.
