Dirk’s Favourite: ‘Maher, Explosion W and the Sumo Wrestler’

During these 2020 Olympics, our Belgian colleague Dirk Caremans keeps us up to date on all that’s happening in and around the Tokyo Equestrian Village, completing our news articles with his fantastic photographs. In addition, Dirk provides us with a daily update sharing his favourite photo of the day.

What else could Dirk’s favourite photo of today be, but one of our new Olympic champions: Ben Maher and Explosion W? After an incredible two days of competition, the rider for Great Britain won the triumphantly. In the thrilling jump-off Maher and the legendary Explosion W flew to gold over this amazing Sumo Wrestler-jump, which certainly wasn’t a favourite to each and every horse in yesterday’s qualifier. But the champ he is, Explosion W of course couldn’t be bothered in the slightest!
