German Juniors take gold, silver for the Dutch team

German Juniors take gold, silver for the Dutch team

The German team of Juniors has been crowned champion at the FEI Dressage European Championships 2021 for Children, Juniors & Young Riders in Oliva Nova. Under the Spanish sun the German team, consisting of Lena Merkt and Sarotti Mocco-Sahne (v. Soliman de Hus), Kenya Schwierking with Cecil (v. Bordeaux 28), Jana Lang with Baron (v. Johnson TN) and Lucie-Anouk Baumgürtel with Zing Hugo FH (v. Spielberg) took the lead from the Dutch, who ended with silver.

With 74,242% and 73,879% Sanne van der Pols with Excellentie (v. Blue Hors Don Schufro) and Evi van Rooij and Don Tango B (v. Contango) added some impressive scores to the board today. A proud chef d’equipe Monique Peutz reflects on her team’s impressive result. “We had to work hard to take a hold of this silver medal”, she said to the Dutch federation KNHS. Peutz complimented both Sanne and Evi on their wonderful tests and praised Pem Verbeek with Fernando Torres (v. Florencio I) and Robin Heiden with Jivando S (v. Desperado) for their consistent efforts to add to the team result.

The Danish Juniors – Sophia Ludvigsen and Blue Hors Quintana (v. Quantensprung 3), Annebelle Rehn and Vestervangs Garson (v. De Noir 3), Frederikke Gram Jacobsen and Ryvangs Zafina (v. Blue Hors Zack) and Alexander Yde Helgstrand with Grevens Sa Va (v. Blue Hors Soprano) – take home bronze.

The highest score of the day went to the British rider Annabelle Pidgley and Sultan des Paluds FRH (v. Soliman de Hus), the chestnut gelding who’s been trained and ridden successfully by the Dutch rider Kirsten Brouwer in the past. The combination scored 75,455%.
