It Was Decision Day For Tomorrow’s CSI3* Grand Prix at Knokke Hippique
The sun and the holiday vibe returned for today’s classes. There was laughter, excitement, sunshine and a lot of great sport at Knokke Hippique’s Summer Circuit.
It was the final day to qualify for tomorrow’s CSI3* Grand Prix. You could feel the anticipation in the air, as the CSI3* GP Qualifier, presented by Equihome, began on the Zoute Plage. The riders and horses were on top form and were fighting for a spot in the jump-off.
In total 15 pairs went through to be in for a chance of winning the class. Margie Goldstein-Engle (USA) was one of the initial riders to jump and came home with a spectacular, fast clear round. Many tried to catch her time and some did, however the Audi double combination caught them out and proved to be the deciding obstacle in the jump-off course.
With only two more to go, the German rider Kendra Claricia Brinkop and Luis Ferreira (POR), the USA supporters were holding their breath. Kendra rode a stunning clear round on the gelding Narcos Vd Smidshoeve, but she too could not catch Margie. Luis was last to start and had an early mistake in the course, meaning the win went to the USA and the beautiful dark-brown gelding, Dicas.
The placed riders included two Brazilian’s yet again, who have been on top form during Knokke Hippique so far. 1st – Margie Goldstein-Engle and Dicas (USA), 2nd – Felipe Amaral and Androide 3k (BRA), 3rd – Kendra Claricia Brinkop and Narcos Vd Smidshoeve (GER), 4th – Pedro Junqueira Muylaert and C’Est Dorijke (BRA), 5th – Filippo Tabarini and Exquise du Pachis (ITA), 6th – Pilar Lucrecia Cordon and Missouri Van’T Ruytershof (ESP).
