Flying start for British and Belgians at European Championships in Vilamoura
It were the Juniors and Young Riders who opened the very first day of the FEI Jumping European Championships for Children, Juniors and Young Riders at Vilamoura Equestrian Center in Portugal.
In the Juniors class it was Belgian rider Evelyne Putters who took the lead with her thirteen year old Calvaro-stallion Uith de Rotes. She finished the 1,40 meter course designed by Bernardo Costa Cabral faultless in 61,92 seconds. Second place went to the Danish rider Josephine Christian Jacobsen and the bay BWP-gelding Dakar (Utrillo Z x Darco) and third was for Alice Laine and Emerald Sitte (Nabab de Reve x Corland) for France.
The 1,45 meter class for Young Riders was won by the British Jodie Hall Mcateer on the BWP-mare Kimosa van het Kritrahof (Chatman out of Eros Platiere), finishing in 63,98 seconds. Second and third went to Belgium: Alexander Housen and Casillas van de Helle finished just ahead of Thibeau Spits riding Classic Touch DH, both offspring of Casall.
The Championships will continue today with the first round for the Children and the first course counting towards the Juniors team competition. You’ll be able to watch all the action on FEI Tv and find the start lists and results here.
